The clinker to cement ratio or "clinker factor" is one of the key levers for cement plants to reduce specific energy consumption, greenhouse gas emission and production cost per ton of cement. Therefore, it is one of the key performance indicators tracked by the Cement Sustainability Initiative (CSI) and the Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD).
